I feel the same!!
ReplyDeleteThe more I read, the more worried I feel about graduating in 6 weeks and being expected to know what I’m talking about!
I don’t feel confident I understand some of the contemporary theories but I do think that’s down to not having time to understand them fully and the chance to discuss what I’m reading and learning about them with other people, like we do in class?
You are not alone, I’m sure others feel the same way!
You are not alone indeed!
ReplyDeleteI started to read theories and got confused as well. I do not know which one is the right one. However, I believe that if I can give myself a bit of time I will manage to undertsand what I read.
I am not sure if I could explain fully all those theories to someone. I never thought it could be so difficult to remember and understand all theories. I know I will need to though as I believe I will need theories in my job and I will need to know how to apply them.
I hope verything will become clear soon. Fingers crossed.
The thing with theories is that there is not only one right one. They change over time and people have theories about theories. They are criticised, developed, reshaped and reformed all the time. Think of them as different points of views and the different ways people see how they relate to best pracrice. If you asked everyone in the class which one they thought was best we'd most likely come up with different answers depending on our own points of view and experience. I think theories build upon theories and that's why they are always evolving and so many out there. They may all have some small aspect in them that you agree with but it is how you put this into practice that counts. The chances are when we all get jobs the companies we will work with will use certain theories in practice and these are the ones we will work with. This is not to say however that you should forget the ones that most relate to with what you agree. I think you might be surprised with how much you actually understand them when faced with a situation that relates to theory. I think it is easier to think how the work you may end up doing relates to theory as we will all hopefully end up in jobs with a client group that we feel passionate about. So in theory go with what you feel strongly about and what make sense for you however know the others so when questioned you can say why you don't argree. Just remember there is not only one correct one!
